TRAVS™ are a key element within ISNetworld®, helping companies align their safety programs with industry standards and client expectations. They serve as a vital tool in ensuring compliance and maintaining a strong safety record.
Please note that TRAVS™ can be found under the name 'Training Documents' in the 'RAVS®' dropdown section of your ISNetworld® account.
TRAVS™ and RAVS®
To understand the purpose of a TRAV™, you need to know what a RAV® is first. The acronym R-A-V-S stands for "Review and Verification Services." Essentially, RAVS® is the proprietary term that ISNetworld® uses for "safety policies." The RAVS® are one of the most common components in the ISNetworld® prequalification process, but like most requirements in ISN®, whether or not you are required to fulfill this component, is driven by the Hiring Client and what components they wish to vet.

Now that we understand the background of RAVS®, it is easier to see where TRAVS™ fit into the picture. TRAVS™ are also known as "Training Review and Verification Services" documents. These documents are less frequently required by Hiring Clients, but are no less important when building a strong safety culture. TRAVS™ are essentially a condensed version of the RAVS® safety programs accompanied by a signed training roster. These documents should mirror the format of a typical safety/tailgate/toolbox meeting.
The requirement (from the Hiring Client) is rooted in the premise that the employer is responsible for ensuring each employee understands the content of the RAVS® safety policies and any Hiring Client required practices. It is unlikely that every employee will read each RAV® in their entirety. TRAVS™ are implemented with the intention of communicating RAVS® content in short and regular meetings with employees as a group, where possible. This logic runs parallel to Section 5(b) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1970, also known as the OSHA General Duty Clause which states: "Each employee shall comply with occupation safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to this Act which are applicable to his own actions and conduct."
Document Review
On average, ISN® requires proof of the TRAV™ every 3 years. However, TRAVS™ should undergo regular review to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Conclusion
TRAVS™ for ISNetworld® play a crucial role in helping companies demonstrate their commitment to safety and compliance. By ensuring that your safety programs align with industry standards and client requirements, you not only enhance your reputation but also reduce the risk of accidents and improve overall workplace safety.
